Heneiken Lagos Fashion Week 2018: Designers that made a mark.

Heineken Lagos Fashion design 2018, has always been one fashion week I religiously look forward to. As I remain anxious to see what designers put out for spring summer 2019.

In all honesty, I had some kind of mixed feelings as regards not seeing some of my favorite designers, Titi belo, T.i Nathan, Bridget Awosika, O’milua to mention a few,but I was excited to know that we had some new designers lined up for Lagos fashion week this season, and I’m glad I was not disappointed at all.

Here are some  designers that made a mark for me this season, in no particular order. These ones, possessed a style story I could relate to. They had pieces I would wear all year round, their fluidity and craftsmanship were impeccable, such fine clean lines, and the infusion of different elements just made it all stand out.

FRUCHE

Fruche, Dna by  Iconic Invanity and Dyzn has such amazing colors, in their collection, the styling made it look very wearable and fun. I loved the disco, sequins and 80’s vibe Dyzn featured and the coral bead as a dress as seen in fruche’s collection.

Ejiro Amos Tafiri, as always, puts on a show with a vibrant collection yet again. As an accessory and shoe junkie, this collection ticked all the right boxes for me. I particularly loved every head wrap, aso oke slides and strappy sandals.

EJIRO AMOS TAFIRI

Nkwo stood true to her brand with blue pieces made from adire, but what struck me were the Ghana must go head wraps, now I’m definitely going to be wearing one of those.

Mai Atafo always puts on a show and this season he didn’t disappoint us. The collection was themed urban jungle, and had a twist of Russian vibe to it with the hats some of the models had on.  The collection surely had a safari theme but with a clean modern finish. There was something for everyone irrespective of gender, age, style and size. Now that’s how you win.

Emmy Kasbit and Orange culture had such a vibrant collection infused with colors and very versatile silhouettes that told stories synonymous to their respective brands. It was more like a presentation and a runway show all in one. The styling of each collection, colors, fabric choices and fluidity were all to die for.

Jzo is a Nigerian brand that has won my heart from the instance they came into the fashion industry. This season I was excited to see this collection as it had pieces that were beautifully draped. The way the pieces moved as each model walked the runway , felt like a fresh breath of air, the collection looked gender less  and the choice of color and fabric just made it all a great collection for me, and very wearable for the Nigerian market and that for me such a great approach to fashion.

Tokyo James was definitely one of my best shows and favorite collection during Lagos fashion week. As each model came down that run way, I was just in awe, at the quality of the pieces, such an international approach to the execution. You could see how neatly sewn the pieces were, the bags were just the icing on the cake which perfectly complimented the leather and snake skin pieces.

Heneiken Lagos Fashion Week 2018, What I wore Day 3 and 4

The last two days of Heneiken Lagos Fashion week 2018, had me in all shades of excitement, not only was i excited to see some of my all-time favorite designers show off their spring summer 19 collections, but i got to wear new pieces from my favorite Nigerian fashion brands.

On day 3, I wore this gorgeous oversize blazer, lacy corset and neon pants by sally Bawa, paired it all up with a waist purse and studded sandals.  Can you tell how comfortable i was and felt? like i would wear this outfit over and over again.

Day 4, which was the last day of fashion week, i wore this gorgeous two-piece suit by Isi atagamen fashion label. I remember when i went in for fittings and saw this piece, I knew this was the right outfit for fashion week, it held me in all the right places. lol

Hope you liked my fashion week outfits, which was your favorite?

Heneiken Lagos Fashion Week 2018: What I wore Part 1

Heneiken Lagos Fashion week 2018 has come to an end but the excitement of attending and witnessing another successful season filled with super amazing and incredible fashion, art and style will stay with me for a long long while.

Day 2 of fashion week had me wearing one of the hottest trends for spring summer 2019, snakeskin. This custom made two-piece made by my personal lagos based tailor sunrah Clothing , got heads turning and jaws dropping. I paired this look up with neon snakeskin shoes, black purse and layers of gold chains.

One of the highlights of my day and outfit was being photographed by the legendary Kelechi Amadi – Obi, it was such an honor to be captured by his lens once again.

Stay tuned for what I wore on day 3 and 4 of fashion week, as well as my favorite designers this season.
