Lagos Fashion Series

Lagos Fashion Series is a curated expression of the city’s creative pulse, where designers, culture, and storytelling meet. Through powerful visuals and intentional styling, we spotlight the minds shaping fashion in Lagos, transforming their inspiration into timeless narratives the world can see, feel, and remember.

Lagos doesn’t follow fashion. It defines it.

In this first series, we featured three lagos brands rooted in craftmanship, heritage and artistry.

Josh Amor is a premium menswear house rooted in heritage, artistry, and the quiet power of regal masculinity. The brand is built on intention,  where every design is tailored to communicate power, presence, and purpose.

Josh Amor draws inspiration from African heritage, architectural form, and the discipline of modern tailoring. It explores how structure, proportion, precision and restraint can be used to express identity and individuality.

ASO was birthed from a desire to document the creative explorations of its founder and Creative Director, Ajide Daniels. Translating personal expression into wearable form.

Rooted in storytelling and driven by a curiosity for the future, the brand explores the intersection of culture, architecture, and identity. Each piece serves as a continuation of this journey, where fashion becomes a medium for both reflection and imagination.

London Fashion Week 2023; CATWALK/PRESENTATION HIGHLIGHTS

London fashion week this season was definitely one for the books . Despite the bipolar weather, change in location for British fashion Council and lots of independent show spaces, I must say that the fashions were still giving fashion and a breath of fresh air.

Here is a rundown of some of my favourite looks from different runway shows and presentations I attended in no particular order. Each show had a distinct effect and story theme that made me excited for how far we truly have come in being sustainable, and creative in the fashion industry and also how inclusive and versatile garments can be. After all, fashion is to be enjoyed right?….

Noon By Noor ”Moonlit” collection was Inspired by the duality of light and shade seen in the moon, the collection personifies the balance of contrasting elements across colors, fabrics, structure, mood, and silhouette.

CLAUDIA WANG ” Temporal Rose Second Quadrant, I really loved this collection, I loved the head scarf. The play on colorsand the floral details. The collection was inspired by the playfulness of virtual spaces. This presentation exhibits her exciting new collection that works to highlight the importance of video games to enhance our conception of the physical world.

Fashionscout featured the future collective with designers like Maxmillian Raynor, Gazal Mishra and Kim Peters, here are my favourite looks from their capsule collection.

Ghazal Mishra had a bohemian vibe. Kim Peters had lovely motif details and lace like patterns on her garments while maxmillian Raynor featured frill, sheer, animal prints in his collection.

The FJU Talents SS24 LFW Catwalk Show, showcased the capsule collections ofChiang Wen Hsuan, Chen You Chen, Allison Tsoi andChen Yi Xuan, along with a 10-look group show from the FJU Department of Textiles and Clothing.

Here are some of my favourite looks from each capsule collection.

Its safe to say that spring summer 2024 is sure going to be a fun season where we get to play with colors like metallic, primary colors, lots of sheers clothing, over size pieces and must I add very comfortable self expressive garments.

5 Blazer Suits, 10 Looks

We are pretty much going to be styling all the trends for the year 2020 in every fashion videos and blog post.
In today’s post, i’m going to be showing you 10 amazing ways to style a suit and switch it up effortlessly.
You can pretty much wear any style of suit you want or blazer, but in this post , most of the suits are men’s wear, which means, you can definitely get your mans blazer or 2 piece suit and still make heads turn while you get your slay on.

Look 1: Pinstripe tweeded skirt suit

This is a girly, sosphisticated and understated mini skirt two piece suit, because the skirt is a mini skirt, it can be worn as a seperate piece, but for the purpose of this blog, we shall be wearing all two piece suits as complete look.

I have added touches of red accessories to give it a different vibe and transform the look. The use of a skinny belt is to further accentuate the cut, you can wear any color of camisole and probably a more toned down color of shoes, like nude, black or even brown to make it a monochromatic look.

Look 2: Pink Power

If it were okay to go out now, i would definitely wear this outfit to a wedding. it screams a whole new level of sexiness. The pink tux is simply perfection and even better that its coudroy, i have paired it with black pair of mens straight cut pants.

To elevate this look, i simply pulled up the sleeves to give it a tomboy look, this shows that you are very comfortable in whatever you wear, i have added very stunning statement earrings and finished up with a pair of iridescent pumps and this sequined cute purse.

Look 3: Showing Nudes

I strongly advise every one to get a nude/ cream blazer, it is a perfect substitute for that black blazer you own. it goes with any and every other color and it is very easy to style.
I styled this mens fitted blazer with an over size mens khaki pants, a white t shirt and strappy white sandals.

To take this look 2 notches up, i ditched the strappy sandals for a pair of snake skin boots, folded up the collar to give it a completely different feel, added a touch of accessory on the collar, and paired with this ostrich leather brief case bag and boom its a lewk!!

Quick tip: To achieve the high neck collar, simply fold up the collar and fasten it with a brooch or lapel pin.

Look 4: Burgundy

This is yet another complete mens 2 piece suit, i love this color, lol. i know i have said that for all the others, but i really love this color. it can also be a great option to wearing a black suit. all i added to this look was a lapel pin, and a pocket square which is optional. for a camisole, any color, i repeat any color will surely go well with this burgundy suit, red, yellow, pink, orange, green, what ever makes you happy really, i paired it with strappy sandals but you can jolly well wear what ever style of shoes you own.

To jazz it up, i wore a snake skin body suit, a little blingy neck piece for some extra edge and still kept the shoes on and added a pink purse just to add a burst of colour.

Look 5: Tartan fever

For my last look, it was only right to throw on a red tartan blazer which is also a huge trend this 2020. I added a sweatpants with it to make it a complete look and also thrown on a pair of pinstripe shoes.

For a more edgy look, i wore a denim cropped burstier, and still kept everything as they were.

Quick Tip: when working with red, you can play with other cool tone or earth tone colors, like pastels, lilac, nude or even washed out denims like i did. this breaks up the color, so its not blinding. you also want to wear very minimal accessories.

5 ways to style a 70s shirt; Quick 5s

Shirt: vintage and accessories from @mjsstylefactory

The wide collar shirt is a style trend for 2020. A vintage shirt is a must have in your closet, it is such a versatile piece of clothing.
Here are 5 ways to style the wide collar shirt effortlessly.

Look 1: Go retro with wide leg pants
Wide leg trousers amplifies the entire ensemble, giving it a real vintage look. pairing it with high waist denims makes it fun to wear.
wearing a pair of open toe sandals or wedges elevates this look.

Look 2: Add some pleats with it.
pairing your wide collar shirt with a vintage pleated skirt is such a great idea and a fun way to enjoy this look, mixing floral prints adds that extra vibe to the look.
you can easily wear this to work, just feel free to pair them with your most comfortable shoes, which ever style is your preference.

Look 3 : Layer with a jumpsuit.
Layering a wide collar shirt with a jumpsuit is yet another amazing way to get more wear from this shirt. The key is to pair it up with a sleeveless jumpsuit so the sleeves and collar can shine through , just as i did in this photo .

Look 4: Cullotte.
Styling a wide collar shirt with a pair of culotte is a such stylish way to wear this trend. it exudes a very effortless, yet classy way to wear this trend. This look will smoothly take you from a day to night look, the trick is to wear comfortable shoes and switch up your accessories to a pair of statement earrings, and you are good – to – go.

Look 5: Blazer with a touch of athleisure.
Wearing a blazer on a wide collar shirt is definitely a funky way to style it up. just like it was worn in the 70’s, going further and adding a pair of dressy track pants is what i call a wowzer, as this automatically becomes 3 trends in one look. No doubt , heads will surely turn with this look.

Style tips to help:

  • Have fun wearing whatever style of shoes you prefer with each of this looks.
  • A pair of nice statement earrings, either small or chunky will elevate this shirt.
  • Don’t be afraid to have fun when styling this look, vintage fashion was and still is loads of fun.

5 Ways To Style A Polka Dot Dress; Quick 5s

Dress from forever 21

Did you know that polka dots is a 2020 trend? I bet you didn’t know. 😆
Well, this is why you have me, to dish out all the style trends you need to know and have in your closet.
Some people feel styling polka can be complicated and a tad- bit difficult to style , but, not to worry , i am here to help solve that problem.

The focus in this tutorial is this pastel polka dot wrap dress. I chose this dress as it is more versatile to get more wear from it and have fun while styling it. so, here goes..

Look 1: Wrap Around
Just to show you how amazing and easy it is to style a polka dot dress, you can simply wear it as it is. just add fun statement shoes like this Valentino rock studs and some statement jewelry and you are good -to- go.

Look 2: Show some hot legs
Throw on a tank top and your sexiest mini skirt, layer up with a polka dot wrap dress and stunt on them with your bad self, lol.
If your feel a little too exposed in this outfit or not so confident in it, simply wrap the dress up but leave some room to show off your legs. Add some nice strappy heels and accessories and let your light shine through.

Bonus tip: drizzle some baby oil on your legs for some shine or show less skin by wearing lacy panty hose to maintain the sexy theme.

Look 3: Go extra comfy with it.
For a more laid back, casual look, simply wear a T-shirt of your choice. I chose white to blend with the white dots on the dress, but you can go with whatever color of T- shirt you desire ,i added some boyfriend jeans and a white pair of sneakers for a very chilled laid back look.
The key is to wear a T-shirt and any style of jeans you own in your closet and have the dress work as a jacket or kimono for you, the sneakers tops it up to achieve that casual look we are going for.

Look 4: Dress it up
One of the easiest way to style this polka dot dress, is to wear a slip dress with it. simply whip out that sultry slip dress and feel all so girly in this look, add a belt for that extra hour glass look and don’t forget to play with some nice stand out accessories, like a head band which are very on trend at the moment or nice earrings and comfy shoes to seal the look.

Look 5:
Who says you can’t have a girl about town look wearing polka dots?
well, its super easy to slay and turn heads in polka dots by adding black body suit and a pair of leggings , this ultimately transforms this simple dress to a stunner.

The trick is to wear a contrasting color to your dress, in this case i added black, if your dress is black, you can still add black or a pop of color like red ,navy, nude or even pink. make sure your layering pieces are form fitting, it could even be a body con dress.
All you need are killer heels, statement accessories and that Naomi Campbell walk!!

I hope you found this very useful and will try the polka dot trend.
